The Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs has announced that, following the consultation carried out by NatureScot to consider views on the creation of a third National Park in Galloway and Ayrshire, the government will not proceed with plans for a Galloway National Park.

This is a welcome outcome and we would like to thank everyone who supported the campaign.

YES to Galloway,
NO to a Park

Galloway has been chosen as the preferred location for Scotland’s next National Park, but it’s not too late to stop it

We need investment urgently, but we don’t need a wasteful, bureaucratic National Park to deliver what we need. Affordable housing, better roads, better schools and health care and good jobs should be our priorities, not more civil servants.

Supporters of a National Park say it will encourage tourism, but we can’t cope with what we have, so our infrastructure needs improvement first.

And we already have tourist attractions and a Scottish Government agency to promote them.
