Campaigners not surprised by the latest “mess” in NatureScot’s Consultation on a proposed Galloway National Park

Campaigners are not surprised that NatureScot is seeking an extension for submitting their report to the Scottish Government on the proposed national park in Galloway.

Following reports that NatureScot are in talks to extend the deadline for their report beyond the 28 April, No Galloway National Park campaigner, Denise Brownlee said: “This clearly shows how much difficulty NatureScot is having, and this just proves that claims that the park idea had overwhelming support was far from the truth.

“The best thing the Cabinet Secretary can do is not just grant an extension but call the whole thing off for a complete rethink.

“The consultation has been a mess from the start, and this request just adds to the confusion and uncertainty. The people of Galloway deserve an end to this divisive proposal as soon as possible.”
