In July 2024, the Scottish Government announced that Galloway had been confirmed as the proposed location for Scotland’s next National Park, with further investigations planned to assess its suitability.
NatureScot was tasked with conducting a public consultation and investigation to determine whether Galloway should join Loch Lomond & The Trossachs and Cairngorms as Scotland’s third National Park. The findings will be submitted to Scottish Ministers in April 2025.
The NatureScot consultation opened on 7 November 2024 and closed on 14 February 2025. You can access the No Galloway National Park response to the consultation at the top of the page.
